Hi, friends! Let's talk Smudging!
Many people often ask, "How can I remove negative energy from my home, and/or my surroundings?" Well, the solution is much more common and simple than you'd think! In fact, maintaining positive and pure energy in your home is extremely important and in order for you and your family to live happy and healthy; you should have positive energy flowing through your home at all times! White Sage, one of the oldest and most well-known herbs, is one of the quickest and most efficient ways to remove harmful, negative energy from your home.
What You'll Need:
We always start by setting a positive affirmation communicating what we want to accomplish by smudging. When smudging a home, you should always start at the front door and make your way around clock-wise, allowing the smoke to escape through windows and doors along the way if needed, releasing the negative energy. Don't forget to smudge in the corners where negative energy tends to linger! Always remember, there is no 'right' or 'wrong' way to smudge, do what feels instinctive!
Let's get started! Simply light the tip of the stick, letting it burn for a short time to get the smoke going. Gently blow out the flames so that only the embers and smoke remain. Waft the smoke with your feather (or your hand) so that the smoke permeates the room. Continue to move around the room clock-wise, moving the smudge stick up and down in the corners to make sure you don't miss any lingering negative energy. We find it important to voice your affirmations out loud during the entire duration of your cleansing. Once you feel you have finished, snuff out the stick in an abalone shell or fire-safe bowl. Most often, people believe the smoke will fade out on its own when the room has finished purifying itself.
Feel free to sage your home (or yourself!) every day; creating a place of renewal and happiness around you. When smudging yourself, it is important to remember to sage underneath your feet because this cleanses your Root Chakra keeping you balanced and grounded. (:
